R&D Centre for Fats of the Bunge Group

Zakłady Tłuszczowe “Kruszwica” SA carries out research and development projects in its own laboratories in Kruszwica, which have been operating since 2005 as the Research and Development Centre for Bunge Fats in Europe.
The Centre’s activities include optimisation of formulas, development and implementation of new consumer and professional products, development of packaging, and provision of process support for customers. The Centre owns state-of-the-art R&D facilities, including a pilot line where new formulas are tested. Once they are ready, the formulas are tested in practice in the company’s own baking laboratory.

The Research and Development Centre for Fats is a team of highly-qualified experts, some of them with international experience, working for the Kruszwica Group in Poland, as well as for other companies of the Bunge Group in Europe. In 2007, the Research and Development Centre for Fats was involved in several important projects of Group-wide importance, including implementation of palm formulas for margarines and fats, development of new product formulas for fats and margarines for industry customers, implementation of the new product, Olej Kujawski Polska Receptura (Kujawski Oil - Polish Recipe), the introduction of new packaging, and the modernisation of the box packing system for shortenings.

The Kruszwica Group also draws on the experience of the Research and Development Centre Bunge Europe in Budapest and the entity owned by the Bunge Group, Oil Center of Excellence in Bradley, Illinois, USA. The Group regularly cooperates with external research and development centres such as the Food Research Institute at the University of Oslo (Norway), Gdańsk University of Technology, the Technical University of Łódź and the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń.
